One of the biggest trends in the wedding and party world is the renting of a photo booth. Photo booths have been around your local shopping malls, carnivals, and arcades for the longest time, but just in the past year, more and more people are renting photo booths for parties such as weddings, bar mitzvahs, fundraisers, bat mitzvahs, school events and any special  occasion.

Along with this new gained popularity, more and more photo booth rental companies have popped up too.

We’ve compiled a list of 4 things you should consider when renting photo booth in Los Angeles. This will help you get the best photo booth rental to fit your needs.

1. Set Up  Charges.

These can be either help save you money, or end up adding a bit to your final bill. Many companies will offer you idle time for a fee, if you wish to split your photo booth rental time into separate time slots. For instance, if you had a 4 hour wedding photo booth, It is customary for photo booth companies to get paid in full for the hours they are working your party. A good photo booth company will come early to set up and not charge your for early set up.  You should only pay for the time of the party.

Ask the vendor if you could specially request a time for them to come set up the party photo booth before the anticipated start time. If you needed the photo booth to be set up several hours before your guests arrive, some vendors may charge you for idle time from the time they finish setting up until the start of the photo booth rental.

2. Template designs.

Will you be able to personalize the look of the template used for your photo booth pictures? You want to make sure that you have a variety of backgrounds and overlays from which to choose. Many photo booth vendors may have an in-house graphics designer who will work with you to design the template just as you like it. You could ask them to get as creative as possible, or to co-ordinate the color scheme with your party or events theme. Other photo booth companies may not have a graphics specialist, so you may be forced to choose between some really basic, cookie-cutter templates for your photo booth rental.

Take a look at their photo gallery. From there you can judge what kind of graphic were used at previous events. Are they professional? Are they unique and creative? Is it something that you would like at your event? You can learn a lot from just viewing their website.

3. Do they have Back Up?.

No matter how thorough your photo booth company may be, technology tends do always throw a wrench into the event. Printers stop working, cameras stop shooting, computers freeze up. It’s part of the Murphy’s law. The photo booth company that you rent from should have backup just in case something goes wrong. If not, your going to have a lot of down time. They may also have a guarantee up time policy which would guarantee a certain percentage of time that your photo booth will be working properly during the rental. If there is a problem, and the photo booth does not work for an extended period of time, they may refund a certain amount of your package price.

4. Unlimited Prints and CD’s?

Not all photo booth rental companies offer unlimited prints and a CD copy. Many photo booth vendors will charge you more if you go over a certain amount of prints. They may also charge you more if you want a copy burned on a CD. Another great feature is the ability to email photos to yourself or have the ability to upload the photos to Social Media such as Twitter or Facebook.
